Sourcing modest blouses for the Gulf: a wholesale buyer's guide
If you buy women's blouses for Saudi Arabia, the UAE or the wider Gulf, the rules are different from mainstream ready-to-wear. This guide walks through the six decisions that most affect fit, compliance and stock turn.
1. Why modest cuts matter
Gulf buyers consistently ask for the same silhouette: loose H-line or slight A-line bodies, long sleeves that reach past the wrist, and round neck or mandarin collar. V-necks, off-shoulder lines and unlined sheer panels are generally avoided. We build every style to this brief rather than adapting a Western block, which is why our cuts read as "modest" without looking like a different garment.
2. Sizing: European 38–54, running large
Our size curve runs one to two sizes larger than standard EU high-street — so a Gulf size 44 is closer to a European 46–48. The core range is European 38–54, and selected styles extend to 5XL to cover Saudi and Egyptian demand. Ask for the full centimetre chart before you confirm a run; grading to your own size curve is part of the development step.
3. Fabrics built for the heat
- Satin — high drape, colour-true under strong sun; the core fabric for occasion wear.
- Heavyweight chiffon — fully opaque without extra lining, lightweight and breathable for summer.
- Jacquard — open-weave for heat dissipation, pattern woven in rather than printed.
- Lace, eyelet, cotton and lyocell — smart-casual everyday options, with lining added wherever full coverage is needed.
4. Minimums and lead time
We work made-to-order with a low minimum of 300 pieces per style, and you can mix colours and sizes within one style. Bulk production takes 15–25 days after deposit; sampling runs 3–7 days on top. Because we hold no stock, your inventory risk stays low and small first orders are welcome.
5. Certification: SABER and ECAS
For Saudi Arabia, clearance needs SABER (PCoC + SCoC); for the UAE, ECAS / EQM. Both are initiated by the importer of record, not by the factory. We supply the fibre composition and product data your application needs — confirm you can obtain certification before ordering. Arabic–English sewn care labels (never stickers) are required in both markets.
6. Plan ahead for Ramadan and Eid
Ramadan shifts the buying calendar by roughly a month each year. Place Gulf seasonal orders early — typically November to December — so stock lands before the season. We flex deposit timing where we can to help buyers hit the window.
