Summer fabrics for the Gulf: what to specify for the heat
Gulf summers are long, hot and humid on the coast. Fabric choice is the single biggest lever on comfort - and on how a blouse photographs and holds colour. Here is how we typically specify for the region.
1. Satin - the occasion workhorse
Satin is our core fabric for occasion and wedding-guest wear: high drape, smooth hand-feel, and colour-true under strong sun. It is the fabric most buyers picture when they say "elegant".
2. Heavyweight chiffon - opaque without lining
Heavyweight chiffon gives you a floaty look that is fully opaque without an extra lining layer. It is lightweight and breathable, which makes it the default for summer everyday wear.
3. Jacquard - pattern woven in
Jacquard carries the pattern in the weave rather than as a print, with an open construction that helps heat dissipation. It reads as more premium and does not fade the way surface prints can.
4. Lace, eyelet, cotton and lyocell - smart-casual
For everyday and workwear we use lace and eyelet for texture, and cotton or lyocell (Tencel) for breathable comfort. Wherever full coverage is needed we add a lining - these are not worn sheer.
5. Matching fabric to use
- Occasion / gifting → satin or jacquard
- Summer everyday → heavyweight chiffon or lyocell
- Textured casual → lace or eyelet with lining
